Synopsis of Chapter 1
In Chapter 1, the main character Tsukika Kayamori, a member of “Unit 31A,” is involved in a battle against a mysterious life form called “Cancer.
The Cancer is pushing humanity to the brink of extinction, and the entire world and Japan are being affected. The story is about the development of the only weapon that can kill Cancer.
Tsukika, who used to be in a band, was recruited by the Seraph Corps and decided to join the Seraph Corps. Through battles on the battlefield, she and her unique friends go through enlistment training and actual combat in preparation for the battles to come…
The unit number has a regularity: the front of the alphabet represents the generation, and the alphabet usually has no meaning, but only “A” is a title given only to those troops of that generation who fight on the front lines of cleaning, called the “cut-throat squadron”.
During training, 31C was challenged by 31A to a game of 31A, and the two units began to compete against each other for the title of “31A.
In the early part of the story, the interaction with fellow troops and daily life unfolds, alternating between combat and an emotional storyline.

Impressions of Chapter 1 (Player’s Perspective)
1) The immersion of the story is amazing!
Hebban is attractive for its “Key-like tear-jerking story” and “realistic character portrayal.
In addition, the gradual deepening of the bonds with the friends will surely lead you into the depth of the worldview as you learn about the changes in the characters’ feelings and past.
(2) Strategic nature of the battle system
Combat is a turn-based command battle in which skill combinations and the use of buffs and debuffs are important. Especially in boss battles, you will have a hard time if you don’t have a good strategy, and you can enjoy challenging battles.
3) The music is on another level.
The theme song and BGM by Jun Asae are divine! The BGM during battle scenes is a particularly exciting point, and I felt that the immersive feeling is further enhanced by the power of the music.
Impressions from Japanese users
Positive comments
The climax of the first chapter really brought tears to my eyes.
The growth of Tsukika Kayamori is so realistic that it’s easy to get emotionally involved in the game.
The battles are simple but deep and addictive.
Negative comments
The battles feel a little monotonous at times.
The game could have used a little more training elements.
I felt the tempo was a little slow in the beginning.
Hebban Small Talk & Discussion
In this section, we will focus on the points that we think are important for enjoying Hebban.
The following is an easy-to-understand explanation of the Tendon material, which is rarely seen in other games, and the reason for the separation of CV and VO.
(1) Explanation of the Tendon material
What is Tendon-neta?
The Tendon Neta is a comedy technique used in manzai and comedy acts to make people laugh by repeating the same blurts over and over again.
Origin of Tendon-meta
– Tendon always has two or more prawns on it.
– The origin of the word “tendon” is said to come from the fact that tendon (especially tendon served at soba restaurants) always has two or more prawns on it.
The technique of tendon stories.
– The word “kabuse” is sometimes used to describe the same thing twice, three times, or even three times.
– This is a technique to get laughs by daring to repeat the same thing two or three times.
This technique of repeating the same blur over and over is used in Hebban in a great many places.
However, the amount of Tendon material in the first chapter is especially large, and many first-time Hebban players stop playing the game halfway through because of this culture and old-fashioned sense of humor.
If you are interested in Tendon stories based on the game, please check out the Tendon stories of my favorite Japanese comedians below if you have time!

2) Explanation of the origin of having separate CV and VO for certain Key works
The voice actors from “Angelbeats,” one of Damae’s representative works, can sing and dance, but in order to make the animation more dynamic, the CV and VO were separated so that the live scenes could have more impact.
In fact, the live scenes received a very high evaluation from the audience.
③ Secret of Unit 31A’s naming
The name of the unit “31A” may have the meaning of “the last hope (last = 31)”? I personally think that it is.
Conclusion
The first chapter of “Hebban” is an introduction to a masterpiece that combines an inspiring story with strategic battles. As the story depicts Tsukika’s growth and her bond with her friends, there are many moments when the player is also made to think about the meaning of life.
We will be writing side stories and articles explaining the events and interactions as they happen, so if there are any characters you would like us to delve into more deeply, please feel free to leave a request in the comments!
The first chapter alone is great, but the real charm of Hebban extends even further from here, so please keep playing!
